3D modeling design walkthrough
My design walk though on modelling.
For the purpose of this, I will create a simple model and showing my process while I do it. At the end the model will be available for download as-well.
1) For this I’ve chosen to make a lamppost, a simple type object but with lots of proportioning to consider while making it. So the first thing I will do is to find reference images on the internet, These are the ones I found:
http://www.soxlamps.com/lampposts_files/modern_lamppost.jpg
http://www.nuttycyclist.co.uk/cycling/photos/new-path-lamppost.jpg
2) Once i found some good images to work from, I then go into 3DS max and start making a very basic version of the model so I can work out and make sure all the praportions and sizes of everything looks right.

3) once im happy with what I got, I then start to work up the full model.

3) This model is now good enough to be used in a game or any other 3d media, But it lacks detail. So once i get this level of the 3d model, I then go around adding detail.
Lamposts in the UK normally have a number/ area code on them. So I will make that into the model:

Also the light censor they have at the top:

4) The finished model:
